Call For Submissions! A Steampunk Fairytale Anthology Wants your Stories Now through Dec. 31

Join other talented writers to create a collection of fairy tales, myths, and legends with a Steampunk makeover.

Steampunk Fairytale Call for Submissions Period Ends: December 31st, 2017.

Maximum Word Count: 10,000 words.

Theme: Steampunk fairytales. What is your favorite fairytale, myth, or legend? How can it be reimagined in a steampunk world or with steampunk elements?

Stories already taken: Snow White, the Poor Miller’s Boy & the Cat, Odysseus, Cap O’ Rushes, the Little Mermaid, Cinderella, The Handless Maiden, and Fionn mac Cumhaill & the Aillen.

Payment: One contributor’s copy.


Original stories only, no reprints, multiple submissions accepted. If a simultaneous submission, please note so in the email. We’re asking for first print and first electronic rights, meaning once the anthology has been published in print and ebook formats, the rights to the work revert back to the author. You are free to re-publish your story elsewhere but as a reprint and citing this anthology as the original publisher in perpetuity.

Guidelines for Submissions:

Use .doc or .docx format and email as an attachment. In the body of the email, include your name, your pen name (if applicable), a short bio (if you have a website, please include it), the title of your piece, what story it is based on, and a word count. Email to with the subject line “Steampunk Fairytale Submission.”

Are you an artist who wants to be involved in the project? Email to with the subject line “Steampunk Fairytale Artist.”

We also have a Facebook discussion group for people interested in submitting in order share our ideas and coordinate who is “punking” which tale. Join us!
